EBPL provides aqua lab services through it's consulted labs of Enbiosys India, located in ECR road at Marakkanam, district Villipuram of state Tamilnadu. The Lab provides PCR diagnostic tests for a wide range of viruses commonly found in black tiger shrimp ( Penaeus monodon ) ,White shrimp ( Penaeus indicus ),American white shrimp ( Penaeus Vanamai ) and fresh water prawn ( Machrobrachium rosenbergi ) The viruses seen in these species are namely WSSV,HPV, IHHNV, YHV/GAV,TSV,MBV,MoV. The tests are conducted on the samples collected from the brood stock (mother prawn),Nauplii, post larvae, and other larval and adult life cycle of shrimp life cycle..

The lab also provides support to the individual hatchery operators by supplying quality test kits and technical services to ensure the accuracy on the PCR diagnostic.

EBPL CONSULTED LABS USES IQ2000 VIRAL DETECTION SYSTEM

Initial period of standardization enables the lab to use only IQ2000 kit to ensure accuracy of the test results. Besides the technical team and their successful training from Enbiosys Services Pte .Ltd. Singapore, Farming IntelliGene Corporation, Taiwan and Mahidol University , Thailand provides a solid strength to the day-to-day operation of the laboratory. The technical personals are well equipped with recent advances in shrimp biotechnology and practical aspects requires in shrimp culture. Which enable them to provide correct feed back to the farmers about the sample and help those taking correct measures in the farming operation.

PCR (Polymerized Chain Reaction)
The accuracy of the PCR diagnosis relates to the careful handling of the critical steps involved in the very process. Expertise of the technical personal and their knowledge on biotechnology plays a vital role on the interpretation of the PCR result.

PCR screening is the only effective tool for detection of different viruses in shrimp brood stock, Nauplii, Post Larvae, Juveniles and adult shrimp in hatchery and as well as post stocking farm operation. At this point of time this is the most accurate and reliable technology. However apart from the PCR microscopic observations are conducted to ensure standard morphological characteristics of shrimp larvae.
